Technical systems for measuring and displaying FRC and CO

The colorimetric ELFA (cELFA) measures CO2 in the main gas stream, calculates FRC and CO and displays the result on a tablet.

IR ELFA, a sampling CO2 analyzer (commercially available CO2 bench) and a laptop for registering and displaying FRC and CO.

The only commercially available device that employed the differential Fick method for calculating cardiac output was the NICO unit from Respironics - Philips. It operated with a disposable valve allowing rebreathing and was designed for patients on mechanical ventilation in the OR

This device, shown left, is no longer on the market.
